I. Introduction
In accordance with the requirements of the subject a student may receive a practical mark only if he:
- presented his work plan before the deadline,
- carried out the task described in the work plan, and
- wrote his report about his work and performed an oral presentation.
II. Written report
The aim of the written report is to learn to present your
work in a written form and to practice the preparation of engineering documents.
Basic requirement are the next:
- The level of technical documentation: Student have to describe his
work performed during the semester that on the basis of this report any
other student could with minor difficulties understand and - in
case of necessity - continue this work.
- Quality and quantity of stundent's work performed during the semester should
be clearly judged by an other person (who is not an outsider, however).
The written report of (at leats) four parts has a fixed format:
- Personal data
(first name(s), family name(s), Neptun-code, e-mail address,
specialization of th sudent;
name(s) and e-mail address(es) of consulant(s);
title of the report, description of the tasks)
- Introduction of the research environment, antecedent efforts and the
state of the job at the beginning of the semester. The general
theoretical background must be presented here, too.
If there are more students working on the same topic, they can write
this part partly or entirely identically.
- The presentation of own work performed and result achieved, and the
state of the job at the end of the semester. This part must be
at leats the 50% of th efull size of report. This section must not contain
any identical parts from the report of any students.
- List of references and attached documents. If there are more students working
on the same topic, they can write this part partly or entirely identically.
Format: It is not mandatory to use the
MS Word sample or LaTeX template, but the
stucture, build-up and page setup of the report must be equivalent with these.
The size is
- nominally 10, maximum 11 pages,
including appendices, references, cover page, etc.
Shorter or longer written report means degradation of mark.
Reports which not meet the above mentioned requirements will be
rejected! Their authors may not held the oral presentation and will
not receive practical mark!
The written report cannot be replaced by journal or conference articel or
report intended fro other purpose. Such papers can be only presented as
the appendices of the project laboratory report.
Method of the presentation of the written report:
- The report has to be presented to the consultant first preferably
on the 11-12th semester week.
- The consultant may enable the stundent to give in the report
to the course responsible. This can be done by sending the
form found at the bottom of the page.
- The written project report previously accepted by the
consultant sould be send to the course responsible via e-mail.
- Name convention of the files:
<neptun_code-family_name>.doc, or
<neptun_code-family_name>.pdf, etc.
The uploaded files can not be read or deleted, students can only list them.
If you want to correct your report, upload it with the name(s)
<neptun_code-family_name>-2.doc,
<neptun_code-family_name>-3.doc, etc.
Deadline:
Written report should be sent at least five days prior to the oral
presentation, but not before the permission of the consultant!
III. Oral presentation
The aim of the presentation is to practise the project briefing usual
in the industrial/enterprise/corporation environment.
Student must "sell" his work towards the management.
According to this the oral presentation's
- minimum/nominal/maximum period is 9/10/11 minutes,
- format is electronic slide-show (MS-PowerPoint or PDF, according to the
capabilities of the laboratory computers).
Slides should not be printed but it should be uploaded to the
computer used during the presentation session before the individual terms.
- content is the next: The briefing should containt all the details which is
necessary for the community attending to the presentation to judge the work of
the student. Mandatory information:
- Name of student and consultant(s)
- Task(s)
- State of the job at the beginning end at the end of the semester
- Separation of the student's own work
- Future plans, if any
- Most important references
- prereqiuisite is the written report given in before deadline and
accepted by both the consultant and course responsible (accept means here
at least a "pass (2)" mark), and after that the registration to an
oral presentation term.
Method of the oral presentation
- The consultant enables to give in the written report and classifies the
semester work and the report by sending the form
to the course responsible (Tamás MAROSITS).
- The approved report should be sent by e-mail to the course
responsible at least 5 days before the oral presentation term of the student. In this semester the deadline is 30 November, 2018 18.00PM.
- Date of the oral presentation is 4 and 5 December, 2018. There will be 3-4 sessions on each day starting from 9.30AM .
Students can register themselves to the oral presentation at Tamás MAROSITS by
e-mail or personally until noon of the day before the presentation term.
- Location of the oral presentation will be room IB.210.
Remarks:
- A term is approximately 1 hour.
- In an oral presentation term will be usually 4 students scheduled.
- Groups (students working on the same topic) may hold joint presentations.
In a joint presentation every student should demonstrate his own (individual)
work, only the introduction and references can be common.
- The oral presentation can include program demonstration, too, complying with the
time limitation.
- If a student was held (scientific) conference talk/presentation during
this semester he can be granted an exemption from the oral presentation
on request. In this case student should upload his report until
30 November, 2018. 18.00PM.
IV. Calculation of the pratical mark
In determination of the semester mark both formal and content requirements have 50% weight. Actually the practical mark is the weighted average of 4 marks:
- the works during the semester, a mark given by the consultant: J1
- written report, a mark given by the consultant: J2
- written report, a mark given by the course responsible: J3
- oral presentation, a mark given by the course responsible: J4
The semester mark will be calculated with the consideration
negligence faktor (NF) which decreases the mark if the
student fails to comply with the deadlines:
<mark> = HF * (J1*0,5 + J2*0,125 + J3*0,125 + J4*0,25)
Appendix: Form which has to be filled out by the consultant.
Consultants are pleased send this
form in order to appraise the work of the students:
1. Mark of the consultants to the semester work (Does the student
perform the planned tasks?): [ ]
2. Mark of the consultants to the written report:
Yes [ ] No [ ] Does report contains an appropriate theoretical background and
list of references?
Yes [ ] No [ ] Is the description of the state of the job at the beginning of
the semester clear?
Yes [ ] No [ ] Is the exposition of the own work of the student performed
during the semester clear?
Yes [ ] No [ ] Is the description of the state of the job at the end of
the semester clear?
Yes [ ] No [ ] Is the technical level of the documentation appropriate?
Based on the above statements the mark proposed to the written report
(necessary conditions of the "excellent (5)" is 5 times "Yes"): [ ]
