Antritsu ME520B digital transmission analyzator
Anritsu ME520B digital transmission analyzator is a measuring instrument, with that we can execute measures on several parts of the PDH, with unframed measuring signals. This measuring instrument is primarily used for the test of digital lines ? measurements of bit error rate and jitter are the preferred measurements here. Measuring instrument consists of a transmission unit and a receiving unit, which are in separated boxes.

Transmission unit is a digital signal generator, which consists of the following parts:
- Clock signal unit ? it generates the timing signal. Bit rates are: 704, 2048, 8448, 34368, 68736, 139264 kbit/s. There is a possibility for external clock signal access, too.
- Pattern/PRBS generator ? it generates the measuring signal. PRBS: 2e10-1, 2e15-1, 2e23-1, Pattern: 1x16 bit, 2x8 bit. Installation of a null sequence to the PRBS signal (8...120 bit). There is a possibility to install bit errors into the measuring signal.
- Output unit ? inserts the measuring signal to the examined object. Line codes: CMI, RZ, NRZ, AMI, HDB3. Output levels: TTL, ECL, variable. Impedance: 75 ohm.
- Jitter modulator ? phase of the timing signal can be modulated with the help of an external signal generator. Maximal modulation depth: 10 UI-pp. Sensitiveness: 10 UI-pp/V.
Receiving unit is a digital measuring receiver, which consists of the following parts:
- Input units - it inserts the signal of the examined object to the instrument
- Clock signal unit - it obtains the timing signal from the received signal
- Pattern/PRBS generator - it generates the measuring signal for the measurement of bit error rate:
- Measurement time basis - it provides the programmability of the measuring time
- Error counter - it counts and evaluates the bit errors
- Jitter measuring tool. Handling services:

- JITTER UI - display of the measured jitter in the Unit Interval.
- HIT COUNT - the instrument counts the events, when the measured jitter exceeds the threshold value.
- HIT INTVLS -the instrument counts the seconds, when the measured jitter exceeds the threshold value.
- HIT FREE INTVLS -the instrument counts the seconds, when the measured jitter does not exceed the threshold value.
