Usage of data administrative and diagnostic programs (Win98)

Dear Colleague!

Welcome to the Definity exchange!

Access to the exchange:

You can make contact with the exchange with the help of a data transmission terminal.

After the direct access of terminal PC start the C:\ProgramFiles\Lucent\DSA\bin\dsa.exe program. If the icon of the program (Definity Site Administration) is on the desktop, then the program can be started from that, too.
After drawing out the dialogue windows, select the GEDI (Graphically Enhanced Definity Interface) program in the menu at the left side.If the communication parameters (port, baud rate) are set correctly, then Login is displayed in the menu at the right side.

Logging in to the exchange:

After Login type the following: xxxx , press ENTER, and then after the request Password: type the following: pppp, then press ENTER. (Key words xxxx and pppp will be given by the leader of the measurement.)

After that version number of the program will be displayed. For the questions following it (terminal type, alert initiation) press Continue [F7]. Then the exchange is ready for the execution of our commands. We can give commands to the exchange by function buttons in the menu of GEDI, and in the command window of GEDI selecting/typing a command.

Edition and study of data blocks:

We can select from numerous preprogrammed commands in the menu of GEDI at the command window. We can get information among the commands with the help of HELP [F5] At an empty command window the program will list the set of commands after pressing the HELP button.

As an example, ask a list from the devices. Type to the command window: LIST ,and then press again the HELP button. Then the program will list all the objectsfrom that the list can be asked for. Identifier of the device is STATION, we will write it behind LIST into the command line. After termination of the command (ENTER) the program will prepare the list.

Editing commands of the menu of GEDI:

Saving the content of the screen into a file

We can save content of the screen to the clipboard with the help of the Printscreen command for recording.

Export of the data block

With the Advanced/Export_data utility

Printing the data block

With the help of the File/Print command. In case of using a network printer do not forget to redirect the printer at the Control Panel with the help of the Capture command!
