Az SDH C-12, VC-12, TU-12 keretformátum

A C-12, VC-12, TU-12 keretbe egy 2048 kbit/s-os PDH jelfolyam vagy ATM cella folyam mappelhető. A mapper egy rugalmas tárból, multiplexerekből és vezérlő áramkörből álló digitális hálózat. A mappelés során a továbbítandó forrás PCM kereteket egy összetevőnek nevezett virtuális keretbe "másoljuk át" és toldalékbyteokkal egészítjük ki. Az összetevő keret bitsebessége és fázisa szinkronizált az STM-1 kerethez. Az összetevő keret mérete 144=4x32+4x4 byte, azaz egy összetevőben 4 PCM keret és PCM keretenként 4 toldalékbyte helyezkedik el. A keretidő 500 us.

A mappelés első fázisa, a C-12 konténer kialakítása:

Az így előálló C-12-es keret (konténer) 4x34=136 byte-ból áll, azaz minden PCM keretet 2 byte-val toldottunk meg.

A mappelés második fázisa, a VC-12 konténer kialakítása:

Az így előálló VC-12-es keret (virtuális konténer) 4x35=140 byte-ból áll, azaz minden PCM keretet 3 byte-val toldottunk meg.

A mappelés harmadik fázisa, a TU-12 összetevő kialakítása:

Az így kialakított TU-12-es keret (összetevő), mely bitsebességben és keret fázisban is szinronizált az SDH-hoz, 4x36=144 byte-ból áll, azaz minden PCM keretet 4 byte-val toldottunk meg.

A VC-12 Path OverHead (POH)

A VC-12 POH bytejai a VC-12/TU-12 keretekben a fentiek szerint helyezkednek el. A TU-12 keret első byteja (V1) a TU-12 PTR, mely a VC-12 POH V5 bytejára mutat. A TU-12 keret első byteja a multiplexeléskor a VC-4 keret meghatározott pozíciójába kerül.
